Bialowas and associate Architects – I began working with Cameron Dunstan almost ten years ago. In that time we have worked together on several significant projects.
In particular I would like to mention the conversion of a former Catholic Convent building in Mitre Street, part of the Assumption School, of historic significance, into a school for children with special needs.
This was a two storey brick building on several different levels internally which had to meet stringent Building Code Regulations and the demands of full access for people with disabilities. We were constantly faced with challenging discoveries within the fabric and changing requirements of the client.
We nevertheless, managed to get an extremely successful outcome for the client within a relatively tight budget and time constraints. This resulted in a Heritage award and a very satisfied client. Much of its success can be directly attributed to Cameron and his team, who went over and above the call of duty by helping to find and implement satisfying solutions to at times vexing problems.
I quickly came to realise that this was not a one- off instant but his general and reliable attitude to all tasks and challenges with the complexities of building regulations and subtle demands of clients, consultants, and the variety of trades and suppliers involved in most if not all projects.
I have no reservations whatsoever, in commending Cameron and his enthusiastic team to any prospective commercial or institutional client or home owner who wants an excellent outcome within a reasonable budget and realistic time frame. Regardless, of whether it is to be a new project or the alterations and additions to an existing building.
